About the Fourth In-University Olympiad in Obstetrics and Gynecology for Students

FGBOU VO ORGMU of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation in the 2018-2019 academic year

 

General Provisions

1.1 These Regulations determine the procedure for organizing and conducting the Third Interne-University Olympiad in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Medical Education of the Russian Federation State Medical University (hereinafter - the Olympiad), its organizational, methodological support, procedure for participating in the Olympiad and determining the winners.

1.2 The Olympiad is held as part of the implementation of the main educational programs in the discipline "Obstetrics and Gynecology".

1.3 The main goals and objectives of the Olympics are:

• identification and development in students of creative abilities and interest in professional and research activities in the field of obstetrics and gynecology;

• increased motivation for in-depth study of obstetrics and gynecology;

• identification of the most interested and prepared students for the formation of information for participation in competitions held in the discipline "Obstetrics and Gynecology" outside the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Medical Education of Voronezh State Medical University.

The team is made up of participants who showed the best results at the Olympics.

1.4 The organizer of the Olympiad is the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

1.5 The Olympiad is held in two directions - “Obstetrics” and “Gynecology” according to assignments drawn up on the basis of an approved training program in the university on the subject of obstetrics and gynecology.

1.6. All wishing students of 4-6 courses of medical, pediatric, medical and prophylactic faculties and faculty of foreign students of Orenburg State Medical University are allowed to participate in the Olympics.

 

Organization of work of the organizing committee of the Olympiad

2.1 For the organization of methodological and other support, as well as

Olympiad is formed by the Organizing Committee of the Olympiad (Organizing Committee) and the jury.

The personal composition of the organizing committee and the jury is formed from the staff of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, representatives of the concerned departments of the university, the Council of the SSS of the State Medical University, the Council of Young Scientists of the State Medical University, representatives of the employer (employees of medical institutions)

2.2 Organizing Committee of the Olympiad:

• establishes the rules and timing of the Olympics;

• ensures the organization, methodological and other support and conduct of the Olympic Games;

• forms the jury of the Olympiad;

• develops materials for the Olympiad assignments, criteria and methodologies for evaluating completed assignments, checks the work of the participants;

• approves the list of winners and prize-winners of the Olympiad;

• awards winners of the Olympic medalists;

• performs other functions in accordance with the provisions of the Olympics.

2.3 Olympics jury:

• checks the tasks of the Olympiad and evaluates their results;

• identifies candidates for winners and prize winners of the Olympiad;

• performs other functions in accordance with the provisions of the Olympics.

The order of the Olympics

3.1. The Olympiad is held in three stages (the preliminary stage is the submission of applications for participation, the first stage is theoretical, the second stage is practical).

3.2. Before performing the Olympiad tasks, the participants are invited to fill in the title page, where the surname, name, patronymic, faculty, group are indicated.

3.3 Participants of the Olympiad must appear at the time indicated in the schedule

audience allocated for the respective Olympics.

3.4 The members of the organizing committee, the jury, the staff of the Secretariat of the Olympiad, the attendants on duty:

• provide participants with cover pages, forms for answering the Olympiad's tasks;

• instruct on the rules for filling in cover pages, forms for answering Olympiad assignments;

• provide discipline during the Olympics.

3.5 The time allotted for the assignment is determined by the decision of the Olympics Committee and announced to the participants of the Olympiad.

3.6 After completion of the assignments, or in the case of the expiration of the time allotted for their execution, the participant of the Olympiad is given the job to a member of the jury or to the staff of the Secretariat of the Olympiad who is on duty in the audience.

3.7 Participants of the Olympiad are obliged to keep silence and order in the audience.

3.8 It is forbidden to use any materials, except those issued by members of the organizing committee. The use of mobile phones, other electronic devices and means of communication is not allowed. If this rule is violated, participants are denied the right to participate in the Olympiad. The protocol records the fact of misconduct and scores “0 points”.

3.9 Information about authors of works is encrypted. Works are checked for non-authorship.

3.10 For each completed task, the sum of points scored is set according to the criteria developed by the Organizing Committee. A reduction in the score of the task is possible, if it is performed partially.

3.11 APPLICATION for participation in the Olympiad must be submitted no later than November 20, 2018 to the assistant of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Helena Andreyevna Loginova, at e-mail: [email protected], or VKontakte: http://vk.com/e.a.balandina strictly as follows:

1. Full name

2. faculty, course, group of participants;

3. contact phone.

3.12 The application is reviewed within 1-2 business days and is considered approved after a positive return response.

 

Olympiad tasks

Stage - Theoretical Stage

1) "Testing".

Offered 30 questions with one correct answer on the main sections of obstetrics and gynecology.

Topics:

1. Changes in the body of a woman during pregnancy.

2. Physiological labor.

3. Definition of presentation, type, position, position, insertion.

4. Pathological labor: with pelvic abnormalities of the fetus, with extensor previa of the fetal head.

5. Anatomically and clinically narrow pelvis.

6. Bleeding with placenta previa.

7. Premature detachment of a normally located placenta.

8. Sequential and early postpartum hemorrhage.

9. Anomalies of labor.

10. Preeclampsia, eclampsia.

11. Hypoxia of the fetus.

12. Pregnancy and extragenital pathology.

13. Spontaneous abortion.

14. Chorioamnionitis. Sepsis. Septic shock.

15. Disseminated intravascular coagulation syndrome in obstetrics and gynecology.

16. Uterine fibroids.

17. Endometriosis.

18. Inflammatory diseases of the pelvic organs.

19. Acute abdomen in obstetrics and gynecology.

20. Neuroendocrine syndromes in gynecology: premenstrual, menopausal, polycystic ovary syndrome.

21. Endometrial hyperplasia, endometrial cancer.

22. Pre-cancerous conditions of the cervix, cervical cancer.

23. Cysts and true ovarian tumors, ovarian cancer.

24. Trophoblastic disease.

25. Ectopic pregnancy.

Stage - Practical Stage

1) Surgical suture.

It is proposed to impose on the dummy 3 types of stitches: a simple knotted suture, intracutaneous (cosmetic) suture, Donatti suture on incisions 5 cm long. Instruments (Gegar needle holder, needle, tweezers, obtuse general surgical scissors) and suture material are provided. Use of your tools is permitted.

Criteria for evaluation:

Aesthetics:

• 5 points - uniform intervals between stitches, uniform tightening of knots, lack of "accordions", tightening and other deformations;

• 2.5 points - uneven spacing between stitches or uneven tightening of knots,

• 0 points - irregular gaps between stitches, uneven tightening of knots, the presence of "harmonicas", tightening and other deformations.

Proper work with tools (safety when handling tools and a needle, accuracy when working with fabrics):

• 5 points - full compliance with the principles of accurate, safe and efficient work with tools;

• 2.5 points - potentially dangerous manipulations with tools and a needle that can injure tissues (improper action with a tool, excessive sweeping movements with a tool);

• 0 points - gross violations of work safety

lead time

• 5 points - up to 10 minutes;

• 2.5 points - 10-15 minutes;

• 0 points - not fulfilled in 15 minutes
