Dogs will be able to watch TV. Dog owners will be able to watch heir pets with Internet cameras. Cats will have their own trees to climb. All animals will have access to a 24-hour vet clinic.

Even animals that don’t need quarantine will wait at the center until flight time or until their owners pick them up. That will help lower stress for the animals.

Planes will be able to pull right up to the center so that horses and other animals can ransfer straight from the plane. That will lower stress and injuries. It is also better for sick animals that must travel for treatment.

12. The cost for owners will depend on services used. The fancy dog “suites” could cost more than $100 a night.

Police Offer ‘Safe Zones’ for Online Buyers and Sellers to Meet

Do you have ites to buy or sell online? Are you scared of strangers? Do you worry they will rob you or hurt you?

There is a way to buy and sell safely: Meet at a nearby police station.

Police stations nationwide are now offering: online safe zones’ to do just that.

More than 100 U.S. police stations offer safe spaces for online sales. Often, the zones are in parking lots or station lobbies. People can meet to trade items. They can feel safe because police are nearby.

Michele Velleman, 44, recently used one of the safe zones. She wanted to sell a few items. She found buyers on Facebook. She gave them the items in person at the police station.

6. “It is always nerve-wracking when you go to someone’s house, ” Velleman said. “It’s in the back of your mind: ‘I hope this person is OK, and everything turns out alright.’”

I think my mother is happier I’m doing it this way, ” she added.

Some police stations started offering safe zones two or three years ago. But interest grew a lot this year. That was largely due to a few crimes that made the news. The crimes were linked to ads posted online.

In January, a couple in Georgia posted an ad to Craigslist. They wanted to buy a 1966 Mustang. A man answered their ad. Police say the shot the couple.

In February, a 21-year-old Georgia student agreed to buy an iPhone online. He was robbed and killed when he went to pick it up.

In March, a pregnant woman in Colorado answered an ad. She wanted to buy baby clothes. Police say the “seller” stabbed her and cut the unborn baby from her belly. The mother lived. The baby died.

In May, a 19-year-old Illinois student was killed after trying to sell his sports car online. Police arrested the man who answered the ad.

Craigslist’s website tells sellers and buyers to be safe when meeting. It tells them to meet in a public place. It tells them to take a a friend. It even suggests making high-value trades at a police station.

Massachusetts police officer Scott Hatch agrees. His station offers a safe zone.

15. “They have to meet…somewhere, but they don’t know who they’re meeting and they don’t really have any background on these people, ” Hatch said.

Thieves and killers are not likely to agree to come to a police station.

Business is good at many of the safe zones.

The citizens have eaten it up, said Captain Mike McCoy. He works in Fulshear Texas.

Most station don’t get involved with the sales. They just offer a safe space to make trades. But the Fulshear police will check to see of items are stolen if someone asks.

THE POT PROBLEM: Legal Growers Struggle with Safety Rules, Concerns

The sale and use of marijuana, also known as pot, is now legal in a few U.S. cities and states. In much of the country, it is still against the law to grow, sell, and use pot. That leaves legal growers with little information on safe growing practices.

Legal growers can earn millions of dollars from large marijuana crops. But bugs and fungi can quickly kill a whole crop.

There is little to no research about how to deal with pot pests. So some farmers are starting to treat pot plants with strong chemicals called pesticides. Those chemicals kill bugs.
