Do you want to have a part-time job, when are a student? ⇐ ПредыдущаяСтр 2 из 2
Many students do have a part-time job. Thus they have extra cash for a cinema ticket or a snack. They also learn how to manage their budget and learn how much everything costs. Students with jobs never feel bored or have very little time to while away. It makes them well-organized. Of course it’s useful to get acquainted with professionals and find out more about their work. It can also help to look for a good job in the future. In spite of all the benefits I would prefer to focus only on my studies at the university. Working is tiring and can influence my academic results negatively. Studying is a job itself while you are young.
What questions will you ask your future employer about your future job?
I meet all the job requirements, don’t I? What are my job responsibilities? Does my work involve a lot of travelling?
Give some advice on how to create a positive impression on the employer at a job interview.
The interview is mostly about selling your personality. We have plenty of opportunities to make our personality shine. First, you are to prepare well for it: research, find out as much as possible about the company we apply for. Write a CV and a cover letter properly. Prepare the appropriate clothes. Don’t forget to rehearse and get some feedback from friends. When you are at a job interview you should be friendly and positive, answer the questions clearly, try not to complain about your previous job. Be natural, be yourself and your job will be in your hands.
Some people think that it’s necessary to have computer skills to get a good job. Do you agree?
Many people think that it’s easier to find a good job with a diploma. That’s true but nowadays it’s not enough. Graduates should be computer literate as well. Whatever job we choose it usually requires some computer skills. Accountants, engineers, designers, teachers, secretaries and pilots use computers at their work. The ability to use programs such as Microsoft Word or Excel or specialized software can make you more competitive among other employees, you will be promoted faster, and can earn more money. Even looking for a job will be easier if you are computer literate.
HEALTHY WAY OF LIFE
1. Let's talk about a healthy way of life. What can we do to live a long and healthy life?
Who doesn’t want to live a long and healthy life? Scientists have travelled around the world searching high and low for a magical recipe of a long life. They found several places, called Blue Zones, where people enjoy extraordinarily long, healthy and happy lives. Researches came to the conclusion that a long and healthy life is no accident. Of course it all begins with good DNA, but it also greatly depends on healthy lifestyle. If you adopt healthy habits, you may live to a decade longer.
Healthy diet is the key to a long and healthy life. We all know that vegetables, fruits and nuts are healthy. They contain important vitamins and microelements, like vitamin A that keeps our eyesight sharp, or vitamin C that helps us to fight infection. But unfortunately the temptation of fast food is very strong. It is so delicious, quick and convenient. What is more, it smells incredible. But it is no secret that junk food doesn’t provide any benefits, it is even harmful. Fizzy drinks and fast food can lead to obesity and other stomach problems. So eat less sugary, salty and fatty food, drink more herb tea and remember a wise proverb “An apple a day keeps the doctor away”.
If you want to remain physically active deep into your 80s, do regular exercises. You don’t need to be a professional sportsman to keep fit; even simple exercises like jogging and walking are beneficial for us. Exercises burn calories, develop muscles and make us feel more energized and active. You can also combine exercises with fun. Take up volleyball or other group sports, and you will make lots of friends.
Sleep is one more very powerful ingredient of a long, productive and happy life. Sleep helps you to restore energy, “recharge your battery” and simply rest. But it is also responsible for keeping your beauty alive, especially so called “beauty sleep” – time from 10 p.m. till 12 p.m. Even Irish wisdom says “A good laugh and a long sleep are the best cures in the doctor’s book”.
If you don’t pay attention to the above mentioned principles of healthy lifestyle, you may start suffering from different serious health problems.
But the most serious health problems of the 21st century are addictions. Smoking and drinking shorten our life and definitely worsen its quality. These habits destroy our bodies.
They cause cancer, heart disease and cirrhosis. But these destroying habits ruin our society as well. People who are drunk often behave very violently: they start fights, steal things, and cause accidents on the road. That’s why we blame drinking and drugs for an increase in crime rate.
Unfortunately, very often we don’t value health until sickness comes. So be smart, don’t say “tomorrow” to the changes in your lifestyle, and say “today”
