FireTEK – quick guide (beta version)

Tips

- Please check the UTP cables after you bought it. If there are some short circuits between 2 wires it is possible not to be detected by the system. Also before every show check the cable if it has any external damage.

- If you use UTP splitters please check them before every display. Some of the bad qualities ones can make short circuits between wires which cannot be detected by the system.

- For extra safety we recommend first to power on the firing module and if the Self-test it is ok connect the rails

Basic operation:

1. I nstall the software:

- Save the file we send to your computer - Unzip the file

- Install firebird SQL which can be found in the unzipped folder: The file name is: Install first for Win32 or 64 and you need to install depending on your Windows version

- Install firebird SQL with the default settings

- Run the FiretekShowDesigner from the unzipped folder

I nstall the drivers only once on each computer)

- Connect a FTM-99 remote or and FTH-48 firing module to the computer and power on

- Before connecting a FTH-48 firing module. Power on the module and Set the interface ID – Need to be sure the screen displays INIT and not Set interface ID

- On the computer will appear installing some drivers – in some cases drivers will be installed automatically

- If the drivers are not installed automatically you need to go into Device manager and install manually

Set interface ID

- Interface ID must be set only if the interface is not preprogrammed with a script

- You must consider the interfaces connected to a Master or an FTM-99 remote must have unique IDs – so please be careful when set the ID for Manual fire

- At start up ‘Set interface ID’ will appear. To increase the current ID press button ‘<<’ or button ‘A’ from the small remote (if there is one)

- If you press longer the blue button the ID will increase faster

- Confirm the current ID by pressing button ‘>>’ or button B from the small remote (if there is one)

8. Op erating Dead Man Switch(DMS): It has 2 buttons: DMS and TRG (the top one) - It can be used on the FTM-99 remote

- It is automatically detected when connected

- Once it is connected you will only be able to go into Play state only if the DMS switch is pressed - If it is released the system will pause the show

- If it is depressed the system will resume the show

- You can use the TRG (trigger) button for sequence firing in Play state and also to start the show from the Armed state

- You can check if the buttons work in IDLE state: The display will show you if a button is pressed and which one.

- Also in IDLE state if you press TRG button you can go directly to the interfaces with errors, if there is any. If you press button DMS you go to the next interface.

9. Set/Reset GPS start time from the FTM-99 remote - The remote must be in IDLE state

- Must have connection to the slaves which want to be fired using GPS time trigger

- Press and hold button 3 (from your right hand) until SET start time appear on the screen

- You can increase hours, minutes and seconds using buttons: 01, 02 respectively 03 and you can decrease them using buttons: 04, 05 and 06

- To confirm the hours you must press and hold button 3

- If the hour is set you can reset it by pressing and hold button 3

ATTENTION: The start time set in this way will be lost on power off. Please be aware that the time used is the UTC time, not your local time

10. Check the internal Audio player from FTM-99 remote ATTENTION: With 5 .4 firmware or newer the default music file MUST HAVE the file name '0'

- The remote must be in IDLE state

- If the ID appear on the top - center of the remote means the internal audio player it is powered on - If TC appear means the internal audio player is shut down and you need to press and hold button 5

until ID appear

- If you connect an USB memory stick and it is OK instead of ID (Internal Disk), the display will change to UD (USB Disk)

- To check if the music player is working you can short press button 5 and the audio file will be played. Only one audio file can be stored on the disk and it does not matter what filename it has.

- If you want to Pause/resume press again button 5, to stop you must press button 6

- If you want to shut down the internal player you must press and hold button 6 until TC appear instead of ID

- To have access on the internal music player memory please connect to the computer using and USB A to USB A cable.

ATTENTION: If the FTM-99 remote battery it is low possible not connect on the computer as USB drive to have access on the internal memory.

11. Internal p layer calibration. A TTENTION: Must be made after each firmware update and every t ime you observe any drift between music and s cript.

- Power on the remote

- Power on the internal player

- Connect FTM-99 remote with USB A cable to computer

- Copy the music file "IP Calibration" into internal disk of FTM-99... please be sure it is the only file from there.

- After copy disconnect USB A cable from FTM-99S remote

- Long press (about 2-3 seconds) button 12 until Drift and a number who is changing appears after IDLE

- Just let it this way about 4 minutes until Drift factor appear. If it is not between -50 and + 50 please contact us on [email protected].

- Now you can delete the test music file and you can add your music file

- Please be sure you will not long press in IDLE state button 12 while internal player it is on - Normally you need a new calibration only after you make a firmware update

Generate Time code

- Open the computer software LTC Audio Mixer

- If needed you can add an offset for delay starting

- For advanced users, you can change the number of channels and the Time code channel - For beginners, we recommend defaults values

- Open the audio file (needs to be wav)

- The software automatically generates the new audio file with the same name + ‘smpte’ word at the end of the filename in the software folder

13. FTM-99 internal time code generator – It works only on the controllers which has this option.

FTM-99 has an internal time code generator and can have as output an LTC SPMTE time code with 25fps or 30fps ND. The output it is the show time and it is started in Play state. To enable go in remote screen and press and hold button 6 (from your right hand) until TC changes to TG (25). Press and hold again to change it to change it in TG (30) and press again for disable. ATTENTION: With the current firmware time code generator it works only on FTM-99 with this option (does not work on FTH-48). Also soon it will have as output GPS Time.

14. DMX output – can be used to control any DMX device like: flames, smoke, CO2, lights, etc.

Firmware update

For FTH-48 firing module: - power off

- connect via USB to computer

- press and hold button << (Blue) - power on

- on the computer must appear a new disk called FTS Update - enter on disk and delete the file firmware form it

- copy new firmware file "FTH-48XX" from the attached folder - wait until the file is copied

- power off the module - power on the module

For FTM-99 controller: - power off
