Краткий грамматический справочник.

Настоящий справочник содержит систематическое описание основ грамматики английского языка. Он предназначен для студентов I курса заочного отделения неязыкового вуза. Основная цель справочника – оказать помощь студентам при работе с контрольными заданиями №1 и №2, при чтении литературы по специальности.

I. Существительные.

1) Множественное число существительных.

Существительное в английском языке имеет два числа: единственное и множественное. Формальный признак единственного числа – так называемое «нулевое» окончание, множественного числа – окончание «(e) s). Множественное число имён существительных образуется путём прибавления окончания «(е) s) к существительному в единственном числе.

E.g. a bed – beds

Существует ряд существительных, которые имеют неправильные формы.

E.g. a man – men

2) Притяжательный падеж существительных.

Обозначает принадлежность и употребляется главным образом с существительными, обозначающими одушевленные предметы:

E.g. children’s games- детские игры

Некоторые другие существительные, в частности обозначающие название стран, животных и некоторых неодушевленных предметов, могут также употребляться в притяжательном падеже:

The Earth’s surface- поверхность Земли

Существительные в форме притяжательного падежа встречаются в выражениях времени, расстоянии, стоимости:

Ten minute’s break- десятиминутный перерыв

II. Прилагательные.

Степени сравнения прилагательных.

Прилагательное в английском языке имеет три степени сравнения: положительную, сравнительную и превосходную.

Все односложные и некоторые двусложные прилагательные (оканчивающиеся на –y, -er, -our) образуют сравнительную степень при помощи прибавления суффикса “er”, а превосходную- при помощи прибавления суффикса “est” к прилагательному в положительной степени. Прилагательные в превосходной степени употребляются с определённым артиклем:

E.g. big – bigger – the biggest

Большинство двусложных и все многосложные прилагательные образуют сравнительную степень путем употребления слов «more» или «less», а превосходную путём употребления слов «most» или «least» перед прилагательными в положительной степени.

E.g. more interesting – the most interesting

less interesting – the least interesting

Существует ряд прилагательных, представляющих собой исключения из общего правила образования степеней сравнения:

E.g. good better the best

хороший более хороший самый хороший, лучший

Употребление степеней сравнения прилагательных.

1) При сравнении употребляется союз than – «чем».

E.g. Tom is taller than John.

2) Если сравниваемые предметы обладают одинаковыми качествами или свойствами, то употребляется союз “as…as” (такой же…как и) и прилагательное в положительной степени:

E.g. This film is as interesting as that one.

3) В отрицательных предложениях вместо «as….as» употребляется «not so …..as» (не такой …как):

E.g. This film is not so interesting as that one.

VI. English Grammar Tenses.

Английские грамматические времена.

Система английских глагольных времён передает представления о действии или состоянии в настоящем, прошедшем и будущем, не указывая на характер протекания действия; о длительности выполнения, его завершенности к определённому моменту.

В зависимости от характеристики выполнения действия времена делятся на группы Simple (Indefinite), Continuous (Progressive), Perfect.

В таблице №2 представлена система времен в действительном и страдательном залоге в формулах в краткой форме.

Table №2.

Tenses Active Voice Passive Voice
Simple Tenses V0, Vs, V2(ed), Shall, will + V0 Be + V3
Continuous Tenses Be + Ving Be being + V3
  Perfect Tenses   Have + V3   Have been + V3

1). Simple (Indefinite) Tense Forms (Active Voice).

Простые (неопределенные) времена.

В таблице №3 показано образование утвердительных, вопросительных и отрицательных форм в Present, Past, Future Simple. (См. приложение).

А) Present Simple (Indefinite) Tense.

Употребление:

1. Действие обычное, постоянное, свойственное подлежащему.

E.g. I get up at 8 o’clock. Я встаю в 8 часов.

2. Действие, происходящее в момент речи (вместо Present Continuous)/

E.g. I don’t understand this sentence. Я не понимаю этого предложения.

3. Запланированные будущие действия (обычно с указанием точного времени):

E.g. We leave tomorrow at 6 and arrive in London at 10. Мы уезжаем завтра в 6 и прибудем в Лондон в 10.

4. Будущее действие в придаточных предложениях условия и времени.

E.g. If he comes, I shall ask him about it. Если он придет, я спрошу его об этом.

Б) Past Simple (Indefinite) Tense.

Употребление:

1. Действие, совершившееся в истекшем отрезке времени.

E.g. I met him yesterday. Я встретил его вчера.

2. Последовательные прошедшие действия.

E.g. He left the hotel, took a taxi and drove to the station. Он вышел из гостиницы, взял такси и поехал на вокзал.

3. Обычное повторяющееся действие.

E.g. Last year I went to the theatre every week. В прошлом году я ходил в театр каждую неделю.

В) Future Simple (Indefinite)Tense.

Употребление:

Действие, которое совершится или будет совершаться в будущем.

E.g. I shall return to Moscow in a few days. Я вернусь в Москву через несколько дней.

He will take English lessons twice a week. Он будет брать уроки английского языка два раза в неделю.

2) Сontinuous (Progressive) Tense Forms (Active Voice).

Продолженные (прогрессивные) времена.

В таблице №4 показано образование утвердительных, отрицательных и вопросительных форм в Present, Past, Future Continuous.

А) Present Continuous Tense.

Употребление:

1. Длительное действие, совершающееся в момент речи.

E.g. He is reading a newspaper in the library. Он читает газету в библиотеке (сейчас).

2. Длительное действие, совершающееся в настоящий период времени.

E.g. He is writing a new play. Он пишет новую пьесу.

3. Будущее действие, когда высказывается намерение совершить действие или когда речь идёт о заранее намеченном действии.

E.g. He is leaving Moscow tomorrow. Он завтра уезжает из Москвы.

Б) Рast Continuous Tense.

Употребление:

1. Длительное действие, совершавшееся в определённый момент в прошлом.

E.g. It was raining at five o’clock. В пять часов шел дождь.

2. Длительное действие, совершавшееся в определённый отрезок времени, но не происходившее непрерывно.

E.g. He was writing a book during the summer. Он писал книгу всё лето.

В)Future Continuous Tense.

Употребление:

1. Длительное действие, которое будет совершаться в определённый момент в будущем.

E.g. I shall still be working at five o’clock. Я ещё буду работать в пять часов.

2. Длительное действие, которое будет совершаться в определённом отрезке времени.

E.g. He will be preparing for his examination in May. Он будет готовиться к экзамену в мае.

3) Perfect Tense Forms (Active Voice).

Времена группы Perfect обозначают действие, которое совершилось к настоящему моменту, к определённому моменту в будущем. В центре внимания – результат действия, а не время его выполнения. Смотри таблицу №5.

А)Present Perfect Tense

Совершенные («перфектные») времена.

Употребляется для выражения действия, совершившегося к настоящему моменту, результат которого имеется на лицо в постоянном времени. Оно может выражать действия, совершившееся как непосредственно перед моментом речи, так и в более отдалённое время в прошлом. При употреблении Present Perfect говорящий обращает внимание собеседника на результат, вытекающий из совершенного действия, а не на время его совершения.

Present Perfect переводится на русский язык прошедшим временем глагола совершенного вида, а иногда и несовершенного вида, в зависимости от смысла предложения:

E.g. I have broken my pencil. Я сломал свой карандаш.

Б) Past Perfect Tense.

Употребление:

1. Действие, совершившееся до определённого момента в прошлом или до другого прошедшего действия.

2. Действие, начавшееся до другого прошедшего действия и ещё совершавшееся в момент его наступления.

E.g. He had been ill for several days when I called on him. Он уже болел в течение нескольких дней, когда я зашел к нему.

В) Future Perfect Tense.

Употребляется для выражения будущего действия, которое совершится до определённого момента в будущем.

E.g. The train will have left by the time we get to the station.

Поезд уже уйдёт к тому времени, как мы приедем на вокзал.

VII. Passive Voice.

Страдательный залог.

Сказуемое, выраженное глаголом в страдательном залоге, указывает на то, что действие совершается над лицом или предметом, выраженным подлежащим. Страдательный залог образуется при помощи вспомогательного глагола «to be» в соответствующем времени и Participle II (V3) смыслового глагола. Смотри таблицу №6.

Употребление:

1. Страдательный залог употребляется, когда в центре внимания говорящего находится лицо или предмет, который подвергается действию, а не лицо или предмет, который совершает действие.

E.g. «Poltava» was written by Pushkin in 1828. «Полтава» была написана Пушкиным в 1828г.

2. Страдательный залог употребляется в тех случаях, когда лицо, совершающее действие, неизвестно или когда считают ненужным его упомянуть.

E.g. Business letters are usually written on special forms.

E.g. I was invited to the concert.

1. Я был приглашен на концерт.

2. Меня пригласили на концерт.
