I think family, school, society have an influence on forming national character. It’s difficult to give any example. Take me, for example. I’m a typical Belarusian with a typical character: modest, tolerant, etc.

OK, ..., let's talk about outstanding people of Belarus. There are many famous people in Belarus: writers, scientists, cosmonauts. I can’t but name F. Scaryna, E. Polatskaya, Ya. Kupala, Daria Domracheva etc.

F. Scaryna is the first Belarusian printer. E. Polatskaya is an outstanding public figure. Ya. Kupala is a famous poet. Daria Domracheva is a prominent sportswoman.

2. Svetlana Aleksiyevich, a Belarusian writer, once said: 'If we only could learn to value a small human life!' Do you agree that every life is valuable, no matter if a person is an ordinary or outstanding one?

Yes I agree that every life is valuable, no matter if a person is an ordinary or outstanding one.

Take, for example, me. I’m an ordinary person. But my life is valuable, at least, for me and my relatives and friends.

A lot of outstanding people originated from Belarus. Which of them would you like to meet? What questions would you ask him/her?

I would like to meet Marc Shagal. I think I'll ask him the following questions:

1. The first one:    Why did you leave Belarus?

2. The second one: Did you have a happy childhood?

3. The third one:    What games did you play in your childhood?

Your pen-friend from England asks you to provide some information about Belarusian enlighteners which might be of help to him with his report about our country. Give him advice.

I think I'll give the following advice:

· Search Google for the information about E. Polatskaya and F. Scaryna. They are the most prominent Belarusian enlighteners.

Name a Belarusian author whom you definitely call the soul of the nation. Explain your choice.

For me V. Bykov is a Belarusian author whom I definitely call the soul of the nation. V. Bykov is known all over the world. His novels are translated into 20 languages. He wrote about the war and the people in the war. I think he is very honest and realistic.

16. 25. Let’s talk about tourism.

Let's talk about travelling and tourism. What types of tourism do you know? Which one do you prefer? Why?

OK, ..., let's talk about travelling and tourism. I think all people like to travel. Some people travel for pleasure, others travel on business. You can travel by car, by train, by sea, by plane, on foot. Each way of travelling has its advantages and disadvantages. Travelling by plane is the fastest but some people get airsick. Travelling by sea is very comfortable and enjoyable but slow.

As for me I like travelling by car. What is the advantage travelling by car? Well, you can take a lot of luggage. You can stop wherever you like. It’s quick and pleasant.

Do you agree that travelling with friends is much more interesting than travelling with parents? Why?

I can’t agree with you. As for me I like both travelling with my friends and travelling with my parents.

3. Imagine you are going to another country on holiday. What questions would you ask at a travel agency as to the place, the accommodation, the transport, etc.?                

I think I’ll ask him the following questions:

1. How much is a week’s tour?

2. What about the hotel? Is it comfortable?

3.  Is the hotel far from the sea?

I think I’ll give the following advice:

· Go to the bank and get a Master Card. Then you’ll have no problems with money.

No, I haven’t travelled abroad yet. I future I’d like to go to Europe. I’d like to do a lot of sightseeing. My dream is to see Paris, London, and Rome.
