Managerial and fiscal responsibility for one of the oldest arts and entertainment management programs in the U.S. Managed a departmental budget of $4.5 million. 

Responsibilities include hiring, directing, supervising and evaluating 20 full-time faculty members, over 100 part-time faculty, and 13 support staff. Served as liaison with the college, academic, and arts/entertainment communities.

The department serves almost 1700 students. It offers both undergraduate and graduate degrees with concentrations in Performing Arts Management, Visual Arts Management, Media Management, Music Business Management, Arts Entrepreneurship/Small Business, and Sports Management. 

Significant Accomplishments:

· Increased student enrollment each year.

· Successfully marketed and promoted the department to various constituencies, which resulted in increased internship and employment opportunities for students. (The department now places over 100 interns annually.)

· Established collaboration and developed the American Module of the MBA in Cultural Leadership for the Salzburg Management Business School and the International Center for Culture and Management

· Led an Arts Entrepreneurship faculty team in establishing the Arts, Entertainment & Media Management Department as an SBA pre-qualification site

· Successfully led Department through NCA accreditation process

· Developed and raised over $4 million for new programs that resulted in the creation of a Center for Arts Policy, new practicum courses, and outreach activities related to the Arts Entrepreneurship/Small Business Concentration, and new computer laboratories for the department

· Led the work of a team of faculty, administration, and the Office of Community Arts Partnerships in initiating a new graduate program in Arts in Youth and Community Development

· Guided a team of faculty members and administration in developing a new undergraduate concentration in Sports Management and raised funds to provide scholarships in this program

· Directed a team of faculty and administration to bring to the AEMM Department the college’s first named professorship, the Coleman Foundation Professorship in Arts Entrepreneurship

· Collaborated with faculty and the Office of the Academic Dean to establish articulation agreements with area community colleges 

· Initiated new concentration in Arts Entrepreneurship/Small Business Management

· Expanded and professionalized the program in Fashion/Retail Management and hired director  (This program is now part of a new Fashion Studies Department.)

· Initiated faculty in-service training each semester

· Initiated and implemented an annual Arts Entrepreneurship Award. Each year the award recognizes entrepreneurial leadership in both the non-profit and for-profit arts

· Led efforts to create international exchange programs with the Internationales Zentrum für Kultur und Management – Salzburg, Austria, the St. Petersburg Academy of Theatre – St. Petersburg, Russia, the Fachhochschule Potsdam – Potsdam, Germany, and the Sibelius Academy – Helsinki, Finland.

· Initiated, in conjunction with InterStudio – the State Institute for Innovative Professional Development in Culture (St. Petersburg) and the Institute for Composition (St. Petersburg), a satellite graduate program in Music Business Management, Performing Arts Management, and Museum and Visual Arts Management in St. Petersburg, Russia

· Created the Charles Suber Scholarship Fund and the Paul Berger Graduate Fellowship

· Led on-going strategic planning process and led curriculum evaluation process that revamped requirements for the undergraduate major

· Established and led the curriculum revision process resulting in the development of a new degree for the Arts, Entertainment & Media Management graduate program, the MAM (Master of Arts Management)

· Initiated academic advising model now in use college-wide

· Revised management structure of student-run record company and introduced first student produced CD’s

· Increased full-time faculty from 5 to 20

Functioned as Chief Executive Officer of this $3.2 million company. Responsible for management, oversight, and planning of all non-artistic aspects of the institution.

 

Significant Accomplishments:

 

· Worked closely with the board of trustees and the artistic director to achieve institutional growth from an annual budget of $1.8 million to $3.2 million with a balanced budget

· Developed new annual giving and special gifts programs and resulting in an over 200% increase in income

· Working with board of trustees, completed plans for a new building and developed required capital fund raising effort of $2.5 million

· Increased season ticket sales 250% and "Nutcracker" ticket sales by over 50% 

· Responsible for introduction, implementation and evaluation of special performances such as "Baryshnikov and Friends" and Dance Theatre of Harlem, resulting in increased earned revenues

· Developed new management and marketing plans for the BalletMet Academy, which brought about a more than 100% increase in enrollment

· Developed block booked tours totaling over six weeks with record revenues

· Introduced a successful minority outreach program

· Computerized accounting, ticketing, development and marketing functions
