Section 1. The goals of the GOLD 2.0 program. The initial goal of the program was to meet the requests from young people for a leadership development program that would help them translate their idealism and energy into positve active service to others and preparation for accepting leadership roles in their communities, clubs and YMCAs
Some other specific objectives: Strengthening the long term commitment of young people to the movement. Training youth to be future leaders at the club, district and Regional levels. Training youth to deliver training to other youth, as an animator for an online group or as a leader in local training workshops. . The expanded focus includes making the training available to all members, expecially the new ones, who do not fall into the category of youth. This offers leadership development training through a curriculum of modules covering topics whose skills are essential to being an effective leader. “Learning by doing” is perhaps just as important as the formal learning in workshops and online learning.
