Governments around the world Monday began expelling Iraqi diplomats and other foreign nationals suspected of terrorism. Стоит отметить, что сингапурский фонд уже успел погореть на вложениях в банковский сектор в 2008 году, однако, несмотря на это, акции финансовых компаний до сих пор составляют около 40% портфеля Temasek. Тем не менее последнюю инвестицию Temasek эксперты одобрили. «В задачи Temasek входит осуществление инвестиций в такие быстроразвивающиеся регионы, как Китай с его ключевыми секторами экономики. Bank of America, кстати, сильно помог Temasek в деле наращивания инвестиций в Китае — довести свою долю в China Construction Bank до 10% в прошлом году фонд сумел именно за счет распродажи американского банка. Тем не менее западные структуры также ценят потенциал роста азиатского рынка и по возможности стараются сохранить там свое присутствие. К примеру, тот же Goldman Sachs оставил в своем портфеле акции ICBC на сумму 3 млрд долл. — банк до сих пор является вторым по величине акционером крупнейшей кредитной организации Китая и не собирается продавать этот актив в обозримом будущем.

Terror data convictions overturned

A British appeals court overturned the convictions of five students jailed in July for downloading information on bomb-making and terrorism from the Internet. The judges said evidence failed to support the prosecutors' case that the men planned to use the material " to incite the commission of terrorist acts." Those freed were Bradford University students Akbar Butt, Awaab Iqbal, Aitzaz Zafar and Usman Ahmed Malik, and London high school student Mohammed Irfan Raja. Prosecutors said police who searched the men's computers found a U.S. military guide giving instructions on how to make explosive devices and a suicide bombing manual.
