PARTICIPLE II AS PART OF A COMPOUND VERBAL PREDICATE

(Complex Subject)

In this function Participle II is found very seldom and is used after certain verbs in the passive voice. The most frequent verbs are:

To see         to hear       to make     to feel to find

       e.g. The treasure was found hidden under an old oak tree.

       Mr. Brown was constantly seen drunk in the middle of the afternoon.

       I am afraid this information will have to be made known.
