People all over the world are fond of sports and games. Sport makes people healthy, keeps them fit, more organized and better disciplined. It unites people of different classes and nationalities.

Many people do sports on their personal initiative. They go in for skiing, skating, table tennis, swimming, volleyball, football, bodybuilding, etc. All necessary facilities are provided for them: stadiums, sport grounds, swimming pools, skating rinks, skiing stations, football fields. Sport is paid much attention to in our educational establishments. Gymnastics is a part of children's daily activity in the kindergartens. Physical culture is a compulsory subject at schools and colleges.

Professional sport is also paid much attention to in our republic. There are different sporting societies clubs and complexes. The most famous of them are the Olympic complexes " Luzhniki", " Dynamo" stadium, etc. They are used for international and world competitions.

Practically all kinds of sports are popular in our republic but football; gymnastics and tennis enjoy the greatest popularity.

As for me, I go in for swimming. It needs mobility, liveliness and much energy. It keeps a person in a good form. I have been swimming for a 5 years. I get a real joy taking part in competitions or a simply swimming with my friends. Certainly, it`s a great distance between my manner of swimming and such favorites as Popov, but I do my training with great pleasure and hope to swim well as our best swimmers do.

In big cities you can find museums, theaters, clubs, cinemas, big shops and hospitals, comfortable modern flats. People try to live in cities because all necessary objects are situated near by. For example if you get ill a hospital or a chemist’s shop will be situated near your home in the city, and if you live in the country it will be hard to find any medical help very quickly. Also in big cites you can fiend all sorts of entertainment such as cinemas clubs entertaining parks and so on. Many people like to spend their free time in them because it helps them to relax and bring them a lot of pleasure. It is really convenient that everything you need in daily life is situated near you. One of the most important comforts of big cites is that you can fast get everywhere you like by underground, bus, trolley bas. Also in big cities there is electricity therefore you can use electrical devices such as TV sets, computers, radio and so on. One more thing, without which it would be impossible to live today, is the telephone and where there is a telephone there is also Internet. The connection has huge value in the life of people and we have got used to it to such extent, that it there is no telephone we feel uncomfortable and lonely. Yes, it is really comfortable, and at first glance everything is good but nowadays big cites there are a great amount of cars and factories Big cites suffer of over population, dirty air, and water, The streets became noisy and after hard working day people cannot relax. People try to do everything to go to the countryside because only there they can find quietness. Every holiday and every week-end people try to leave their houses and go to the country. Many people prefer to live in a big city because A lot of big shops are situated near theirhouses, but they also like to spend holidays in the country because after living in the city for about 9 months people begin to get tired.

I live in Kumertau. It was founded in 1953. It is a very beautiful town. It is situated in Bashkortostan republic. There is a river The Agidel near our town. Kumertau is a historical, cultural and health center. The places of interest are: Lenin square, the monuments to Lenin, Lomonosov, Mazhit Gafuri, the monument to the helicopter KA – 26 has an interesting history, the wonderful Park named Gagarin and some other places. There are many cultural places in our town: the cinema “Gornyak” the cultural center “Dusluk”, libraries, the park of culture and rest and the monuments of old architecture. In our town as in many other towns there is a church and the mosque which are very beautiful. The center of the trade is the Central Market. There are many shops and stalls there. Our town is a health center. It has sanatorium, hospitals, physical-culture centers and others. Many guests visit our town. There are 3 institutes in our town. There are also many technical and secondary schools. I like my town very much because it's my native town.
