1. Change the following sentences from Direct Speech into Indirect Speech according to the model:

Model: Mary said to Nick, “Please, give me your dictionary.”

Mary asked Nick to give her his dictionary.

The professor said to his students, “Don’t be late for the lectures”.

The professor asked (told) his students not to be late for the lectures.

2. Change these commands and requests into Indirect Speech:

3. Work according to the model:

Model: John (to Ann): Please, show me your new English textbook.

Peter (to Max): What did he say to Ann?

Max (to Peter): He asked her to show him her new English textbook.

1. Please, ask Mr. Braun to wait me for a little while. 2. Book two train tickets. 3. Will you please, reserve a single room for me at one of the good hotels in London. 4. Don’t ask me any more questions. I am tired. 5. Take a seat and wait for me a minute. 6. Please, don’t go out tonight. 7. Show me round the city tomorrow. 8. Don’t waste your time. IV. The Indirect Speech. Revision.
