Change the following sentences from Direct Speech into Indirect Speech according to the model.



Model: Jack said to me, “I have lost my notebook”.

Jack told me that he had lost his notebook.

 

1. Tom said to us, “I have found some new friends”.

2. She said to them, “My sister has studied engineering”.

3. Alex said, “The letter came too late”.

4. Andrew said to his brother, “I’m going to work in the garden tomorrow”.

5. The teacher said, “St. Petersburg was built in 1703”.

6. She said to us, “I do everything myself at home”.

7. The girl said, “My brother didn’t go to the Institute yesterday. He was ill”.

8. Jack said, “I didn’t meet her last week”.

9. The teacher said, “I shall ask them what the problem is next week”.

10. My sister said to me, “I am talking on the telephone now”.

 

2. Change these statements into Indirect Speech:

The clerk said to them, “You can leave the key with the maid upstairs.”
