I had three friends round to dinner. I had a candle and for some reason I put it on the plastic lid on the counter in the kitchen and forgot all about it. We had some coffee, and then I went back into the kitchen to get some more coffee for a top-up so I noticed this smoke and dreadful smell of burning. And I realized that the plastic lid was on fire. There was thick black smoke in the kitchen everywhere. I didn’t really know what to do, but my friend shouted: "Get a wet towel!” So I did and threw that on the candle and went to call the fire brigade. And luckily everything was OK.
