Степени сравнения прилагательных.

Имена прилагательные (качественные) имеют три степени сравнения: положительную (Positive degree), которая является основной, сравнительную (Comparative degree) и превосходную (Superlative degree).

Существует три способа образования степеней сравнения английских прилагательных:

• при помощи прибавления суффиксов -er и –est к основной форме:

The Kama is a long river.

The Volga is longer than the Kama.

The Volga is the longest river in Europe.

• за счет употребления слов more и most перед основной формой:

This book is interesting.

This book is more interesting than the film.

This book is the most interesting among all that I have read.

• путем образования степеней сравнения от разных корней:

good – better – the best

bad – worse – the worst

much, many – more – the most

little – less – the least

Некоторые прилагательные имеют по две формы в сравнительной и превосходной степенях:

 

older – the oldest

old

elder – the eldest

 

 

farther – the farthest

far

further – the furthest

 

later – the latest

late

latter – the last

POPULAR INTERNET CONNECTION OPTIONS

· Dial up connection with your local phone company. This is an easy option usually known for slow speeds and poor support.

· Dial up with companies like EarthLink and Net Zero. This option is the cheapest way to get an internet connection. Connection speed is usually good and support is excellent.

· If you use cable TV, then your cable provider may be able to provide you with an internet connection also for an additional fee. This does require special cable modem. Connection speeds are good but if you live in an apartment complex where your neighbors also use the same internet cable provider then speeds may deteriorate fast with simultaneous access. Internet security may also become an issue.

· Many local phone companies are also providing DSL (Digital Service Line) internet connections. If you plan to use DSL, you will need to connect your computer to a special DSL modem. This option is growing in popularity as more users switch from dial up option. Internet connection speed is very good but can drop with increased distance from local hub.

· If you do not want the hassle of too many wires in your office or home, then you can go for the Wireless Internet Connection. This option is usually available only in big cities. It requires a special wireless modem. Speeds are slower than the wired option.

· People living in remote areas, wanting a high speed internet connection can go for a Satellite Internet Connection. This option will provide you with a high speed internet connection anywhere in the world but is the most expensive choice.
