Dear Sirs, Thank you for your letter of 12 May ordering 800 meters of 100 cm wide watered silk. We regret to say that we can no longer supply this silk. Fashions constantly change and in recent years the demand for watered silks has fallen to such an extent that we no longer produce them. In their place we can offer our new GOSSAMER brand of rayon. This is a finely woven, hard-wearing, non-creasable material with a most attractive lustre. The large number of repeat orders we regularly receive from leading distributors and dress manufacturers is clear evidence of the widespread popularity of this brand. Thank you for your letter of 25 July sending us a cheque for £ 200 on account and asking for an extension of time in which to pay the balance. As your account is now more than 2 months overdue we find your present cheque quite insufficient.
